How to sell a used car privately?

We have decided to sell our car. A good/fair price estimate on Kelley Blue Book and Nada guides lists it at around 6,200 - 6,300, and that's with the 110,000 miles (almost all highway) we have on it. We are fixing it's air conditioner before selling it. It has 2 brand new tires, 2 almost new. One small dent in the door (penny size) and a scrape down the bottom side bumper that took some of the paint off. Everything else is in working order, the inside is very clean, and we have all the maintainance records since we purchased it. It has had only one previous owner.

Our friend wants to buy it, and we are thinking because of the dent and paint issue, we would sell it for $6,000. We haven't ever sold a car before and aren't sure if this seems fair. We owe about $7,300 on it so can't afford to go a lot lower, but we want to make sure she's treated fairly. She asked us to get a complete checklist from our maintainance person (not sure what that includes/means).

Could any of you offer any suggestions on this process or what you feel we are or aren't doing right? Or who we should contact to find out more about how to go about this?

Thank you!|||if its an as- is sale make sure she knows that, and if she wants to, let her take it to a mechanic and have it looked over! that's not on you. you never know when a used car will have problems, becareful she doesnt keep comming back everytime something goes wrong and wants you to fix it!|||Normally, when the person sell the car they simply take the car to get it check out all the safety certifies, and if the car passes the safe check that means you have the go, and the buyer can take it to the to have it check, and if the point out there is something need to be fix and the reason is about safety the seller have to fix it otherwise, the car is ok, it's by law.
