Can i get your help please?

im trying to trade cars. im driving a '62 galaxie that i bought for 5 grand, which is in great shape. im looking to get something just as big, but better on gas. there is a 1986 lincoln town car for 2 grand that has 91,000 miles paint still sparkles and the leather inside is beautiful. the problem is, the galaxie aint perfect. i need to get new hood hinges, and replace the door handles on the driver and passenger side. just cosmetic issues. she has 61,000 miles and i have mechanics to back up that statement. i want to trade the galaxie for that town car plus 3000 grand, but i dont think ill get that full three grand if i dont fix the little issues. i called the dealer and he said he would do it, but he needs to inspect the car before we shake hands..... am i missing something or perhaps im not getting enough money back? the low retail on nada for a '62 galaxie is 3100. i paid 5 grand and spent another 1500 on repairs/tuneup. the paint still shines, the interior is white and blue velor, which is in good shape for its year. all the original chrome is there. its a four door sedan with a 292. its the galaxie 500 because the instrument panel is gold, which was standard for 500's. has the original radio and ac setup, but neither work. she is my daily driver and i want the same size boat but i must realize my priorities and go to college.|||Why not put the Galaxie on e-bay, Hemmings Motor News and the Old Car trader and get more money for it?

A dealer isn't going to give you squat for a 47 year old car. Take it to a dealer that sells classic cars and have them appraise it, they might buy it from you.

Classic cars need to be marketed to a specific audience, just like any other specialty item. Find that audience and they'll buy it.
