They sent me a list of trucks 14, of which only 2, had the mileage listed .Absolutely none of them were listed a V-8. Only 3, were listed as auto-trans, only one was a Silverado, none were listed with power doors%26amp;windows, etc. If someone could help me with info on how far I can press them, or should I say, how far are the laws governing this area going to back my claims as an insured individual. I don't want anything more than what is fair. I myself found 37 ads that had all the extras that came with mine, that they insured on/with my vehicle, 18 of which were V-8's the same year and listed milage (or more),out of those even some of the ones with over 260,000 miles asked $4999.The offer to me %26lt;$2500 I apprecieate any legitimate info. Thanks . Oh, they told me they do not use Kelly blue book,NADA,Edmunds, nor any other price guides, how do they expect an estimate to be close to the value of a vehicle if they don't know what to use as a controlbase? Thanks again.|||So you send them the list you found of 37 ads along with a request to be paid $XXXX. Your research is as good as theirs, perhaps better.
Assuming you are not at fault and the insurance is attempting to settle with you, they owe you the value of your vehicle, adjust for condition, at the time of loss.
What I don't understand is why you are talking to them. Why isn't your insurance company working with them on your behalf? Have you asked your agent about all this? If not, do so.|||I doubt if many people are going to answer this. If understand you, your asking what can you do when the Ins. Co. tries to lower valued vehicle to rate what your truck is worth. I would print out a information sheet about what your model truck came with stock. Then look at it and call the insurance people and fax it to them. Tell them people that peice of paper you just looked at is what you want to be paid for. Take the money and walk away from the situation. Then go buy what you want. I wouldnt let a Ins. Co. get me another car.|||The same thing happened to me. First tell them you do not agree with their estimate. They'll tell you they "made adjustments for millage" and so on, but you do not have to agree with them.
Then find real close comparable trucks yourself (autotrader.com is a good place to look.)
Send them your results. They'll not agree with your list, but now you can negotiate and you'll get more than they first offered.
If you cannot live with their final offer, you can take them to court, but you know how mch trouble this will be.
In my case, they offered me $5000 for an older car totaled in an accident, but after I gave them my list, they paid $7300.|||Your VIN is the key to the information that is needed to get you the fairest deal. The VIN shows whether there is leather interior, the motor size, and the amenities. If you have add-ons that bring the value higher, such as nice tires/wheels, you need to request payment for those items, or keep them yourself and have the amount deducted from the payment. The insurance company seems to be trying to get away with paying you as little as possible. Don't let them do it. Look the info up for yourself.
